Nat Lacy, Managing Partner has over 15 years experience as a Defence litigation Solicitor acting for insurance companies, local authorities and self-insured corporate entities and has been Managing Partner since 2013. Nat has extensive expertise in public liability, employer’s liability, road traffic and commercial claims and in particular catastrophic Claims across the Court of Appeal, High Court, Circuit Court and District Court jurisdictions. Donna Kerrigan, Partner, has over 13 years experience and became a Partner in 2019. Donna has extensive expertise in public liability, employer’s liability, road traffic and commercial claims across the High Court, Circuit Court and District Court jurisdictions. Donna works in defence litigation and manages the firms’ SIU (Special Investigations Unit) Department. Donna has been instrumental in growing the Firms fraud department over the past 5 years with significant success on behalf of the Firm’s Clients, across various Circuits. Given her extensive expertise in the area of fraudulent claims, Donna is regarded among our clients as an industry expert. Donna also presents to clients on suspect claims on a regular basis which ensures that our client’s Special Investigation Units have the most up-to-date information on the judicial approach to fraud and ensures that our clients are aware to the ever evolving actions of fraudsters.
Jill Vance, Partner has over 12 years experience and joined the firm in 2013 and became a Partner in 2019. Jill has worked exclusively in the area of insurance litigation primarily focusing on the defence of personal injury actions arising from road traffic accidents, employers and public liability claims. In addition to overseeing the North and Western branches. Throughout her career and particularly since joining our firm, Jill has a proven and successful track record of acting on behalf of domestic and non-domestic insurance companies, state entities/local authorities and self-insured entities in the defence of claims against them. John Lacy, Consultant John has over 35 years experience and is a Consultant to the Firm. He has vast experience and focuses exclusively on defence litigation/dispute resolution advising the Firm’s Existing Clients on specific Claims and on key risk industry areas for the past 35+ years. The vast majority of John’s experience relates to litigating Claims on the Eastern, Midland and Northern Circuits. Experience in all areas of civil litigation at every Court level to also include catastrophic claims for all Existing Clients across Eastern, Midland and Northern Circuits. Dealing with all types of claims for Meath County Council and the Irish Public Bodies since 1985. These include all types of Personal Injury Claims, Employers Liability Claims, Public Liability Claims, Bullying Claims and all other types of claims taken against Meath County Council.
Mel Bourke, Senior Associate Solicitor, has over 18 years experience and is based in our Sligo office. Mel joined the firm in 2015 and has in excess of 18 years post qualification experience having worked almost exclusively in Defence litigation throughout his career. Mel’s experience has proven invaluable to the Firm as it has provided us with additional insight in and has been instructive to the Firm in terms of the innovations that have been undertaken to ensure that we continue to evolve with our Clients. Rachel Gilroy, Senior Associate Solicitor has over 11 years experience and joined the firm in 2020 as a Senior Associate. Rachel is lead Solicitor on a large book of claims for one of our large domestic insurer clients. Rachel is considered a trusted legal adviser and deals with a variety of claims across all jurisdictions and work types. Rachel specialises in personal injury defence, and has acted on behalf of a range of Irish and International insurers and self-insured companies in both high and low value personal injury claims. She has extensive expertise in the areas of public liability, employer’s liability (including bullying and harassment claims), products liability/defective products, commercial claims, travel claims, road traffic accidents and fraudulent claims. Gillian Brennan, Senior Associate Solicitor, has over 21 years experience and having worked previously with from 2006-2008 re-joined the Firm in 2013. Gillian has advised in Road Traffic Accidents, Employers Liability, Public Liability, Product Liability/Defective Products, Property Damage and Defamation/False Arrest across the Eastern, Midland & Northern Circuits and in the High Courts in Dublin and Dundalk. Gillian heads up the Firm’s “Know How” and CPD Department and gives regular Insurance Institute accredited presentations to our Insurer Clients on key industry areas and risk prevention and regularly advises on the discrete interpretation of isolated clauses within insurance contracts. Gillian is also the Firm’s Data Protection Officer and regularly assists our Clients with their own Data Protection and GDPR queries as part of our value added service. Gillian has taught in the Civil Litigation and Skills modules in the Law Society of Ireland since 2007. Gillian is an Associate Faculty member of the Law Society of Ireland and is a lecturer, tutor and examiner of the Civil Litigation modules and also lectures and tutors on the skills and professional conduct courses in the Law Society.
Deirdre Malone Senior Associate Solicitor. Deirdre has over 13 years experience and joined the firm in 2019. Deirdre has dealt with a wide spectrum of personal injury cases from various perspectives, gaining invaluable experience of the litigation process as a result. The majority of Deirdre’s experience relates to litigating Claims on the Dublin & Eastern Circuit, where she acts for a number of our self-insured and State entity clients. Deirdre provides advices on all aspects of EL, PL, RTA and Data breach claims. Her role includes reviewing initial investigation documentation and pleadings and providing strategic, appropriate and independent advice to clients on all aspects of a claim. Deirdre has also been involved in a number of high profile litigated claims on behalf of our clients and has had significant success before the Court of Appeal. Deirdre is also a CEDR and MII accredited mediator and brings those skills to her role as a negotiator within the firm which has resulted in excellent results being achieved for our Clients.
Lisa Mulloy, Associate Solicitor, has over 6 years experience and joined the firm in 2021 having previously trained and worked in a leading law firm in the West of Ireland. Lisa specialises in insurance defence work and has considerable experience advising a range of domestic and international insurers and self-insured companies on personal injury and related claims. Lisa has worked in the areas of public liability, employer liability, product liability, motor and defamation claims. Lisa also works in the firm’s SIU Department and has a particular interest and experience in advising and defending suspected fraudulent and exaggerated claims and has had great success in having a number of cases withdrawn and formally dismissed before the Courts at District, Circuit and High Court levels. Lisa has developed a wealth of practical knowledge in dealing with these types of claims and liaises closely with clients in developing anti-fraud strategies.
Thea Carolan, Senior Associate Solicitor, has over 20 years experience having previously been attached to the Litigation Department, Medical Law Unit and Healthcare and Lifesciences Specialist Practice Group. Previously qualified as a General Nurse which allows Thea to practice very effectively and competently particularly when furnishing advices to other healthcare professionals, due to first hand experience of the environment. Thea provides advice on all aspects of healthcare law including issues surrounding the vulnerable Client including Ward of Court, childcare and mental health issues. Since qualifying as a Solicitor Thea advises on a broad range of legal areas including Litigation, Employment law, Conveyancing, Probate, and Family Law.
